Rekey vs. Replace for Commercial Doors
Rekeying changes the key code while keeping the existing lock hardware. It's significantly faster and cheaper than replacing the locks, and provides the same security benefit when the goal is "old keys should no longer work." Replacement only makes sense if the hardware itself is failing or you're upgrading to a different lock type. For pure "kill the old keys" scenarios, rekey is almost always the right call.
