A typical motorhome or travel trailer has multiple completely separate lock systems:
- Chassis ignition key — Same kind of key as the truck or van the RV is built on (Ford E-series, Workhorse, Freightliner, Mercedes Sprinter, etc.). This is the key you turn to start the engine.
- Entry / living quarters door key — Usually a deadbolt and knob on the side door. Completely different from the ignition key. Often a Bauer, Trimark, Global Link, or RV Designer brand lock.
- Storage compartment keys — The exterior storage bay locks. Almost always uses a single generic key code (CH751 is the most famous) shared across thousands of RVs — which is a security problem we can help with.
- Interior cabinet and drawer keys — Various small wafer locks throughout the cabin
- Hitch & tongue locks — For travel trailers and 5th wheels
- Battery / propane compartment — Sometimes separately keyed
